How Sweet It Is: Candy Cane Hot Cocoa Mix
You don’t need to live in cold weather to enjoy hot cocoa. Even here in Florida, some of us drink it every day, just to stay warm in the office air conditioning!
This candy cane hot cocoa recipe is one of my favorites to bring to work, especially during the Christmas season. Or for a thoughtful gift, try packaging it inside one of our holiday mugs.
- 3 cups instant non-fat dry milk
- 3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa
- 1 cup confectioner’s sugar
- 1/2 cup chocolate shavings
- 1 cup miniature marshmallows
- 1/2 cup crushed candy canes
Mix all ingredients in a large bowl or, for a festive look, layer in a container with a tight lid: dry milk, cocoa, sugar, marshmallows and crushed candy canes. Stir 3-4 tablespoons of mix into 1 cup of hot water. Top with whipped cream, additional crushed candy canes and chocolate shavings. Yields about 12 servings. Use within 6 months.
