Toast the Fab Four With a Yellow Submarine

Fifty years ago this month, the Beatles touched down at JFK in New York City, kicking Beatlemania into high gear. When the lads from Liverpool gave their first live U.S. television performance on The Ed Sullivan Show, tuned in were:

  • 73 million Americans, representing 34 percent of the nation’s total population
  • 45.3 percent of U.S. households with televisions
  • 60 percent of televisions that were turned on in U.S. households

Today, whether you’ve had a hard day’s night or you’d just like to come together with friends to toast the best-selling band in history, we’re here to help with a cocktail called the Yellow Submarine. It’s easy to make; all you need is love and these ingredients:

  • 1 oz banana-flavored rum
  • 1 oz melon liqueur
  • 1 oz orange juice
  • 1 oz pineapple juice
  • 1 oz sour mix
  • Banana slice
  • Ice

In a cocktail shaker, combine the rum, liqueur, orange juice, pineapple juice, sour mix and ice. Shake it up, baby; twist and shout if you wish. Then strain into a your favorite tumbler, whether it’s a musical or British design. Garnish with the banana slice, then sit back and let it be.
