Punch Up New Year’s with a Bourbon Slushie
There’s no place like home for the holidays. And that includes New Year’s Eve. It’s not that I’m getting older, it’s just that I’ve never been an event-party person. My New Year’s Eve is a little less crowded and a whole lot quieter. I invite a few friends over. We eat a lot, drink a little, play poker and laugh. Of course we take time out to count down the last 10 seconds of the year, and toast to welcome in the New Year. After that, it’s back to dealing the cards and another round of bourbon punch slushies.
What’s that? You’ve never hear of bourbon punch slushies? Well, you – and your guests – are in for a treat. It’s a delicious adult punch that’s easy to make and easier to enjoy.
Happy New Year!
Bourbon Punch Slushie
12oz can orange juice concentrate
12oz can lemonade concentrate
46oz pineapple juice
1 ½ cups sugar
2 cups brewed black tea
2 ½ cups bourbon
In large bowl, combine all the ingredients except the lemon-lime soda. Mix well.
Distribute the punch mixture in shallow glass pans.
Place in freezer overnight.
When ready to serve, take out of the freezer and let stand for 10 minutes or so.
Scoop slushie mixture to fill a Stout (or your favorite 12oz drinkware) halfway. Top with lemon-lime soda.
(For a true New Year’s touch, top frozen punch with lemon-lime soda and champagne.)
